Victorian Engagement Ring Alternatives on Etsy

Let’s face it, not everyone wants a diamond for an engagement ring, but what are some durable alternatives from yesteryear? I’ve complied a list of some Etsy options from the Victorian Era that may not be as tough as a diamond but have managed to withstand the test of time over the past 100 or so years.  Remember, with the proper care, almost any ring can be suitable for everyday wear and tear.  I think you will notice that I am partial to turquoise… click through the image for information on purchasing any of these heirlooms.

I chose a Victorian antique as my engagement ring. It’s an opal with rose gold circa 1860 so I know I can’t wear it every day because of its fragility, but it is absolutely stunning, I haven’t seen anything like it yet!
